Our History

Calvary Theological Training Center in Greensburg, Pennsylvania began in the summer of 2004 as one of the extension schools from our main campus, Central Theological College of Auburn, Indiana. In the summer of 2008, the decision was made to allow the Greensburg campus to operate independently from the main campus and through this process the name of the Greensburg, PA campus was changed from Central Theological College of Southwestern PA to Calvary Theological Training Center.

Our schools are built upon the over 60 years of work and study of the late Dr. Paul E. Paino. In 1969, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, six young men approached Bishop Paul E. Paino, requesting that he teach them about the ministry, as they each sensed a call to preach.

Following this first class of students, a revival broke out in Fort Wayne, IN., among young people; which was referred to as the “Jesus Movement”. During the first summer of this revival, 600 were saved and baptized.

Thus a Bible school called Christian Training Center was initiated from the resulting need to train men and women for ministry; practically as well as theologically. As these trained, laborers went into the harvest fields, churches were birthed. Calvary Ministries, Inc., International was then formed to provide a legal covering for the issuing of credentials and the structuring of local churches.

The founder of Christian Training Center and Calvary Ministries Inc., International, the late Bishop Paul E. Paino, always stood for excellence in ministry and a professionalism which projects great dignity throughout the minister’s area of influence. C.T.C. and CMI have always been dedicated to helping train called men and women in a “practical theology” of ministry and that dedication continues today.

In the summer of 2002, Central Theological College became the guardian of all the records for Christian Training Center and is now the continuation of Christian Training Center in Auburn, Indiana.

Now, Calvary Theological Training Center of Greensburg, PA is an integral part of continuing the vision that was given Dr. Paul E. Paino in 1969 as God continues to provide an opportunity for men and women to be trained for the work of the ministry.
